Workshop: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Arms Control and Global Order

ACGO hosted an interdisciplinary workshop at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg on 20–21 March 2026, bringing together early-career researchers from political science, law, computer science, and related disciplines. The workshop explores how emerging military technologies are reshaping international security and arms control, with a focus on developing interdisciplinary research perspectives and new collaborations.

Panel Discussion: The Future of Treaty-Based Arms Control

As part of the ACGO conference “Arms Control in a New World Order: R.I.P. or Reloaded?”, the Arms Control and Global Order (ACGO) Research Unit, in cooperation with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Saxony-Anhalt, hosted a public panel discussion on 31 January 2026 on “The Future of Treaty-Based Arms Control”. The discussion focused on the erosion of traditional arms control agreements in the context of geopolitical change, challenges of verification and compliance, and options for risk reduction and transparency in light of emerging technologies. Panelists were PD Dr. Jürgen Altmann (TU Dortmund & fonas), Colonel (ret.) Wolfgang Richter (GCSP), Lieutenant Colonel Jörn Wiederholz (OSCE/NATO Liaison Officer, BMVg), and Legation councilor Darius Rahimi (German Federal Foreign Office), moderated by Dr. Oscar Prust.
